Two Days We Should Never Fret About! 2.22.10

TWO DAYS WE SHOULD NEVER FRET ABOUT!

There are two days in every week that we should never worry about… two days that should be kept perpetually free from all fear and apprehension.

One is YESTERDAY with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday is gone; it has passed forever from our control. No amount of prayer, wishing, pleading (Believe me -- I’ve tried!), or all the money in the world can bring it back. We cannot undo any action or take back any word. Yesterday is gone forever. Worrying about it is no more productive than worrying about the “man in the moon”.

The other day we should never worry about is TOMORROW… along with its imaginary adversaries, fictional problems and make-believe burdens. Tomorrow's sun will either rise in clear splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise, Lord willing. Until it does, we have no tangible stake in tomorrow -- it simply does not yet exist. Indeed, millions of people that are alive and well today may not live to see another dawn. One wonders how many are “stressed out” concerning a day they will never experience.

This leaves only one day a week to focus on – TODAY! Although life may not be easy, any of us can deal with virtually any problem, handicap, pain or trouble… for one day. (This is especially true for Christians -- “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil 4:13)

So why do so many individuals struggle with TODAY? It is because they choose to add the regrets of yesterday and/or the fears of tomorrow to the cares of today. Doing so creates a burden so massive that it is all but impossible to bear it. It has been suggested that, “Although age may gracefully add silver to the hair, yesterday’s misgivings and tomorrow’s fears serve as a potent gray dye”.

So focus on today… do what you can, pray all you can, read (God’s word) as you can, help all you can, and thank God for your life. As for tomorrow... don’t waste your time!

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matt 6:31-34

Jesus, always Jesus!
