I promise to be there for you. God promises that He will never leave or forsake us - Heb.13:5. Jesus also promised that He will be with us always – Mat. 28:20. Christian fathers should promise their children that they will be with them, or come whenever required.
I promise to comfort you when you are hurting. God has promised comfort to us whenever needed - 2 Cor. 1:3-4. Christian fathers should make themselves available when their children need a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, or a supportive hug.
I promise to love you unconditionally. God loved us even while we were still sinners (Rom. 5:8). Christian fathers should regularly tell their children that they will always be loved, regardless of what occurs in their lives.
I promise to listen to you. God is always willing to listen when we pray (Psalm 34:15). Fathers should also be willing to hear what their children have to say. Their words and thoughts should always be considered important.
I promise to forgive you. God is not only willing to forgive sins, He remembers them no more (Jer. 31:34). Likewise, children need to know that their fathers are more than willing to forgive and forget sins when confessed. How can a child believe in God's forgiveness if their own father refuses to forgive?
Fathers, your children will grow up with a greater understanding of God's love if you strive to be more like God yourself. Our god-given children deserve nothing less.
Jesus FIRST!
