While on vacation in Myrtle Beach, I occasionally encounter someone scanning the beach with a metal detector. Such people methodically walk back and forth, moving their instruments inches above ground. Asking one man if he had ever found anything of value, he replied, "Oh yes. Over the years I have found diamond rings, rare coins, jewelry, watches, and more pocket change than I can count." And then he added, “Sometimes I don’t find anything, but when I discover something of value, it’s worth the search.”

When Jesus instructed His followers to go into all the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15), did He not have something similar in mind? That is, although the majority of people may have little interest in going to heaven, the few that do are definitely"worth the search".
As Christians, we frequently focus on the need to grow spiritually and remain faithful to Jesus. However, we must not overlook the fact that pleasing our Savior involves helping others to get to heaven. To comply with the Great Commission and follow in Jesus' steps we need to “seek and save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10).
Sharing Jesus is not always easy, and many will ignore or reject the gospel message. But even if only one soul in ten thousand hears and heeds the call of Christ, it is definitely "worth the search".
May God help us to search daily for lost souls that need Jesus Christ.
"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance." (Luke 15:7)
Jesus, always Jesus!
