"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mk. 8:36-37)
A Christian man loved his children dearly and longed for them to become faithful Christians. As they grew older, he did not want to come across as if he was “preaching at them,” so he looked for a way to lovingly encourage them. He eventually came up with the phrase, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!”
When his children reached their teen years and became increasingly exposed to the temptations of the world, he gently implored, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!” When each child graduated and moved out of the house, he lovingly urged, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!” And at the wedding ceremony of each child, the father fervently reminded each one, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!”
Years later, as they were all gathered around his bed as he was taking his final breaths, his final words were, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!”
Did they heed their fathers' words and become faithful Christians? I do not know, but I do know that their loving father persistently planted the seeds of salvation in their hearts.

Every Christian father and mother (or grandfather and grandmother) should do the same. After all, if our children (or grandchildren) lose their souls, then everything else they accomplish in this life will be worthless.
A Christian father recently beamed about his children’s accomplishments. Yet not one has attended a church service in some time.
I repeatedly remind my son, “The most important thing to me is to know that you are headed for heaven.” Although he received many athletic awards while growing up, and is currently successful in his chosen career, those things pale in comparison to the condition of his soul. If he does not end up in heaven, then he will have gained nothing and lost everything.
Parents and grandparents, always set a good Christian example to your children. And constantly remind them, “Whatever you do, don’t miss heaven!”
Jesus, always Jesus!
