"…God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth..." (Phil. 2:9-10)
Most people hope that their name will be remembered long after they pass from this life. Which, incidentally, is one purpose of memorial markers or headstones at gravesites. To some, this is crucial, as if being remembered after death guarantees a way to live on forever. Although a few well-known individuals have been remembered for many centuries (Alexander the Great, Augustus, Nero, Cleopatra), no other human name has been or will be remembered for as long as the name of Jesus Christ.
“Your name, O LORD, endures forever, Your fame, O LORD, throughout all generations. For the LORD will judge His people, And He will have compassion on His servants” (Psalm 135:13–14).
“His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in Him; All nations shall call Him blessed. Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things! And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen” (Psalm 72:17–19).
"For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Co 2:2).
Let us dedicate ourselves to keeping the name of Jesus Christ going strong for as long as we live (and far beyond)!
Live for the Lord in 2024!
