“These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily…” (Act 17:11)
“…his (the blessed man) delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psa 1:2)
When my family began attending the Adrian Church of Christ in the late 60’s, we did not initially attend Sunday school. However, the preacher at the time - Lester Allen - began a “campaign” to exhort every Christian to attend Bible class in order to bolster spiritual growth. It was not easy for me, at 13 years, to get up an hour early, but dad and mom insisted. Within a month, it became easier, and soon our family acquired the “Sunday school addiction”.
Did it make a difference? ABSOLUTELY! It benefitted our family in many ways. Within 2 months we began attending the Wednesday night Bible Study. Shortly thereafter, I began attending the Young Men’s Training Class. I am certain that I would not be a preacher today had my family opted to skip Sunday school. In fact, various surveys indicate that the majority of preachers, elders, teachers and missionaries acquired the “Sunday school addiction” many years before.
Give it a try! Attending Bible class is one addiction that will compensate you richly!

A blessing occurs within our halls, typically twice a week,
But those refusing to enter in will often end up weak.
The word of God is opened wide, and placed before our eyes,
So we can hide it in our hearts, and thus become more wise.
Please come and take a seat with us, and try not to be late,
Have your Bible in your hand, and please participate.
A passive student will rarely learn, if they no effort make…
To hear each lesson carefully and plan God’s way to take.
So read the Scriptures, fill in the blanks; give your teacher a chance…
To teach you God’s word thoroughly, so on the Truth you’ll stand.
Be a Light for Christ in 2025!
